We are surrounded by skills here in the Jewellery Quarter we are also surrounded by love. A love that is a first piece of jewellery, a keepsake, a lifelong commitment. We want to build on the love and create events that bring the community together to learn and grow strong.

Craft and Care sees Quartermasters sharing their skills in a relaxed environment whilst we listen and learn from different organisations.

This month we welcome Suzanne McArthur from Birmingham Hospice (the new name for St Marys Hospice in Selly Park and John Taylor Hospice in Erdington). She will be talking about the hospice movement as well as asking us to talk and think about death and dying. "Talking about death and dying doesn’t make it happen any sooner, but society still regard the subject as a taboo. We may have questions or experiences we would like to share with others, but haven’t found right the space to do this."

The craft activity this time pulls on our skills of reuse and sustainability. We will be stitching into embroidery hoops with materials from each of our practices. Acrylic from Frilly Industries, leather from B18 leather and threads from Tina Francis. All materials are free!

Rock & Roll Brewhouse have kindly provided the venue, a craft beer establishment. Their skills of care, time and love can be seen in the venues beautiful appearance and also in their beer. Soft drinks will also be available to buy.

Let's listen, let's talk, let's craft!
