What’s in a name?

We are Quartermasters. It’s a play on words. Firstly because we live and work in the Jewellery Quarter. Secondly because in the US military a Quartermaster is someone in charge of materials and looking after supplies. A trip to the Quartermaster stores will see you find what you need. As Quartermasters we aim to support, champion and promote makers and their indie goods. We seek to provide solutions to challenges and issues in our local community and yours too.

Who are we?

Quartermasters are 3 makers based within the heart of making in Birmingham, the Jewellery Quarter. We are Tina, a tapestry maker, Kirsty, a laser-cut jewellery maker and Deborette, a leatherworker.

We are also much more than that and believe we can be stronger together.

As makers we work together to champion locally made and independently bought goods, creating opportunities to showcase the work of our creative peers through self-initiated pop-ups, trade shows, maker markets and festival collaborations.

Maker led events centres around the needs of local creatives first, as we believe that craft builds community.

Independently we each run our own maker businesses alongside hosting workshops, running community art projects, supporting creatives in their business development and organising an annual maker market.

We want to be an open door for artists and makers across the West Midlands; elevating the profile of locally made and independently designed goods as they become embedded and valued as part of the fabric and culture of the region.

For more regular updates on what we are up to follow us on social!
