Greetings from….

is a boat, one that represents the distance travelled between residents of Commonwealth countries.

Commissioned by the National Memorial Arboretum we worked with Groove and Slice Laser Studio to help realise our ambition and ideas to create a temporary artwork and participatory activity that celebrates the camaraderie of Commonwealth nations.

This project is about people, being thankful for their sense of duty and pride in fighting for their home country, whether it’s their adoptive country or country of birth. We want to celebrate the differences in the diaspora of countries represented and learn about the journeys people have taken.

Sustainability!

The boat is constructed from wooden dowel and scaffolding clamps. The flexibility of the component parts means that we’ll be re-purposing the structure to make other temporary interventions on future projects. The acrylic panels will be repurposed and recycled into new sheet materials for future interventions. The postcards that visitors will be completing and posting into the boat are all recyclable after they’ve been on display until November 2022.
